Welcome to Nomindo’s fifth newsletter, just in time for Christmas 2024!
The time has come! The first version of Nomindo is available. Can’t wait to get started? Send us a short message via the contact form and you’ll receive the invitation code. Then you can register at app.nomindo.com and start right away.
What can Nomindo do today?
This first version of Nomindo starts with the basics upon which all future features will be built:
- Travel Groups: You can manage travel groups and add (and remove) Nomindo members. Through travel groups, you control who participates in trips and even who gets access to trips.
- Trips: Manage all your trips. You can create, edit, and delete trips. For each trip, you can specify its duration, which countries are visited, which travel group it’s with, add a description with a title image, and who can see the trip (all Nomindo members or just the travel group).
- Campsites: Nomindo uses campsites from the OpenStreetMap project. All campgrounds available in OpenStreetMap can be saved in Nomindo and used in trips. By manually adding campgrounds to Nomindo, a curated list of campgrounds is created where a Nomindo member has surely camped before or has some connection to.
- Campsites during the Trip: Plan the campsites during your trip by adding campsites from the Nomindo database to your trips. For each entry, you can record many useful details, such as when you’ll be (or were) there, arrival times, pitch number, whether you’ve already paid, and much more.
You can find which features are coming next on the Nomindo Roadmap. The Changelog explains when features were added.
Do you have ideas, wishes, questions, or suggestions? You’ll find a contact form directly in Nomindo. We welcome all feedback.
Open Source
With the first release, Nomindo’s source code is now publicly accessible, licensed under AGPLv3. Contributions from the community are welcome and benefit the entire Nomindo community. The source code can be found on Codeberg.
The Association
To give Nomindo a legal foundation, the “Travelburras” association was founded. All details about the association can be found in the statutes. The core idea of the association is to support the project and ensure the financial security of the platform’s operation.
What’s next?
Of course, this is just the beginning - now things really get started! Our goal is to open registration for everyone in spring 2025 and disable the invitation code. We will continuously develop new features according to the Nomindo Roadmap to make the platform even better and more useful.
Most importantly: Your feedback will directly influence the development to make Nomindo a real help for camping.
